5 footballers who have changed to Ghanaian citizenship ahead of the FIFA World Cup

As for Tuesday,5th July,2022 Five players of Ghanaian heritage have switched nationality giving the Black Stars a tremendous boost.

Because of the dearth of quality players currently representing the Black Stars in Ghana,the announcement was met with jubilation within the country’s football community.

Many Ghanaians were concerned about how Black Stars would compare in terms of quality and experience before the largest football showcase,which is slated to take place in Qatar 2022.

Five foreign players have switched allegiance to support the squad in the Mundial so the news is timely.

Here are the five players and what they can add to the club

1. Inaki Williams:

For some time,Ghana has been interested in signing Athletic Bilbao star.

As a result his revelation that he is prepared to play for the Black Stars has dominated the news.

Bilbao,Spain,is the place of Inaki Williams birth. He first took up the sports in Pamplona,where he later joined Athletic Bilbao.

When he made his first team appearance in 2014,he became the ‘The Lions’ first black player to score a goal in the club history.

In January of this year,he signed a new deal with San Mamés that would keep him at the club until 2025.

2.Tariq Lamptey:

One of the players who decided to transfer nationalities and represent Ghana was named as Brighton & Hove’s defender.Made his decision of his father,Ahmed Lamptey, according to GFA President Kurt Okraku.

He was born on September 30th,2000,in Hillington,United Kingdom. Having previously represented England at the youth level.

Against Arsenal in the Premier league on December 29,2019,Lamptey made his professional football debut for Chelsea.

Stephan Ambrosius:

Ambrosius was a member of the Hamburger SV youth Academy when he was 12 years Old.In March of this year,he made his Bundesliga debut

His first club was Einichkeit Wilhelmsburg at the age of 5,before he moved to Wilhelmsburg,SV Wilhelmsburg and St. Pauli where he spent his whole career.

Pauli began attending the Humburger SV youth program in 2012,when he was thirteen years old.

Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer:

As a center forward,he plays for a former German Club despite having a Ghanaian father.

Dynamo Dresden sign Königsdörffer in the summer of 2019 after he had previously played for Minerva Berlin,SCC Berlin and Hertha BSC as a young player

Patrick Pfeiffer:

On August 20,1999,he was born.He represents SV Darmstadt 98 as a defender and is a Ghanaian-born German.
