Victoria Beckham is defended by Sven Goran Eriksson on the 2006 World Cup incident.

Victoria Beckham, Coleen Rooney, and the other members of the 2006 World Cup WAGs brigade have received more support from Sven Goran-Eriksson after they were accused of hogging the limelight.

The 74-year-old Swedish football manager stated that the party was acting in a “completely normal way” as they spent fun-filled nights out while watching matches in Germany.

The wives and girlfriends, led by Victoria, 48, Coleen, 36, and Cheryl Cole, 39, notoriously held the focus and attracted more attention than their spouses, who actually participated in the game.

The group was decked up in fancy clothing, and the players at the time considered their constant shopping, fights, and nightly partying to be a huge distraction from their game.

Sven discussed the scandal and defended the group in an interview with BoyleSports World Cup, but he also acknowledged that the increased focus on the Spice Girl didn’t “make it easy.”

After the brigade was spotted out and about in Germany, the coach defended the WAGs‘ presence as opposed to their being “bored” in a hotel.

The fact that Victoria Beckham was one of the wives at the World Cup, he continued, “obviously didn’t make it easier, but it made it brilliant for the press.”

Whatever they did, he continued, was scandalous. If they visited a bar, a restaurant, or went shopping, they would be acting in a completely regular manner. I thought the response was a little bit ineffective.

Victoria, who is well-known for her elegant designer attire, wore an England Rocks tank top during England’s match against Trinidad and Tobago.
